Asbestos
"Asbestos" is a fibrous material
that can cause serious lung disease if a person is overexposed by
inhalation. It is still present in many industrial, commercial and
residential properties. Buildings built prior to 1971-72 may
contain "Asbestos Containing Materials" (ACM) as an insulating or
fireproofing material.

The Ontario Ministry of Labour has legislation covering the exposure to asbestos
in Ontario workplaces and on construction projects where friable ACM is present.
